a little bit about me - Your Massage Therapist & Clinical Sports Therapist!
My journey into the realm of massage therapy and clinical sports therapy began out of personal necessity. As an active individual (and also a past office worker) who has experienced multiple injuries, I came to understand the profound impact that effective therapy can have on one's quality of life. These personal experiences sparked not just an interest but a genuine passion to help others lead pain-free, healthier lives.
My Massage Therapy Career so far!
My professional journey has been diverse and enriching. One of the highlights was working aboard a luxury cruise ship, where I had the privilege of serving a diverse clientele from all walks of life and training an international team on the many five star treatments from Elemis that we offered, one of my favourites being the Himalayan Hot Stone Massage which I've included within my business (I absolutely love it!). I've also worked with professional athletes and everyday folk like myself, making some real transformations. These unique experiences have honed my ability to provide tailored, effective massage therapy to a wide range of soft tissue issues and help my clients reach their goals.
I am deeply obsessed with learning and constantly seeking ways to improve my techniques and broaden my knowledge. This dedication has led to numerous certifications and continuous education (see below), ensuring that I am always equipped with the latest and most effective methods in the field.
At Aches Away, my mission is to offer more than just a temporary fix. I focus on creating lasting change through personalised guidance, actionable insights, and unwavering support. Don't just take my word for it—see the reviews from our wonderful clients. Their transformations and improved quality of life are my greatest motivators.
Whether you are dealing with chronic pain, recovering from an injury, or simply in need of relaxation, I am here to help you achieve your wellness goals. I look forward to being a part of your journey toward a healthier, pain-free life. You are in safe hands!
My hobbies in Scarborough & Beyond!
Outside of my professional life, I am a passionate explorer of the great outdoors. I love hiking, especially the beautiful coastal walks here, the moors, and the breathtaking landscapes of the Lake District. Cycling in the countryside and practicing yoga are some of my favourite ways to stay fit and connected to nature.
Self-development and continuous learning are integral parts of who I am. I have a deep love for travelling and have been fortunate to visit 40 countries so far, each experience broadening my perspective of the world we live in and our different cultures and approaches. I'm also an avid enthusiast of nature, psychology, health, and wellness, often immersing myself in podcasts and books on these subjects.
Nutrition, healthy eating and mindset are central to my lifestyle and philosophy. I am committed to a vegan lifestyle and strive to be as plant-based as possible. Reflecting my values, all my massage lotions and products are vegan and not tested on animals, ensuring an ethical and holistic approach to your care.

"Just to let you know after my visit to you I've had the best pain relief for a long time. Today, I have walked further than I have done for years, i.e., the full length of Scarborough. Without your help, I wouldn't have even thought of it, it used to take me all my time to get to my car."

I've been struggling with a painful shoulder for some time now and this afternoon Jessie made it all go away. A combination of therapies were used and I feel so much better!
I only wish I had found her before. Responsive, knowledgeable, professional and a pleasure to deal with.
Thank you."

I am now PAIN FREE and exercising again!!! Before seeing Jessie I was unable to exercise. This included walking and as a keen walker this also had a huge impact on my wellbeing. I also struggled with everyday tasks. Jessie has completed a lot of work and provided a range of exercises to build strength. I will continue to see Jessie once a month as maintenance. If you are struggling....DON'T. I put up with this for way to long. Jessie is a safe pair of hands and I can't thank her enough for the difference she has made to my life."

FAQS
What can I expect during my first treatment?
During your first appointment, we'll discuss your medical history, current symptoms, and any specific areas of concern. This consultation will help us create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your needs. Following the consultation, you'll receive a customised therapy session aimed at addressing your specific issues.
Please note, for the Clinical Sports Therapy & Rehab, a postural assessment, special tests and rehabilitation exercises may also be given.
Soft tissue mobilisation, soft tissue release, advanced myofascial release, peripheral joint mobilisation, deep transverse frictions, trigger point therapy, muscle energy techniques (post isometric relaxation, reciprocal inhibition, proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation), positional release technique, integrated neuromuscular inhibition technique, effleurage, cupping (silicone suction, dry cupping and fire cupping), taping (kinesiology and strapping), gua sha and dry needling.
Typically, you will be asked to undress down to your underwear for the session (I will leave the room during this time). You will be covered by a sheet, with only the areas being worked on exposed at any time. However, some clients prefer to wear shorts or keep clothing on for the areas not being worked on (for example leg work, the top half of clothing can stay on) and lie on top of the sheets, which is also acceptable depending on the area being treated - this or any adaptations can be discussed to make sure we both feel comfortable and work needed on certain areas can be done.
If a postural assessment is needed, shorts or appropriate underwear that you feel comfortable standing in will be required.
Please note, clients are not allowed to be fully naked; underwear on the lower part of the body must be worn at all times.
Yes, many health insurance providers and work care plans do cover our services, but it is important to check with your specific provider to confirm. I am a member of the CNHC (Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council) which is usually the main evidence accepted by insurance companies. I can send proof of this, along with other certificates and the invoice as evidence which is usually requested.
What is the difference between Deep Tissue/Sports Massage and Clinical Sports Therapy Massage?
Deep Tissue and Sports Massage focuses on relieving muscle tension, improving circulation, and enhancing flexibility through targeted muscle techniques. These treatments are typically used for general muscle maintenance, recovery from physical activity, and addressing muscle tightness.
Clinical Sports Therapy Massage Therapy goes beyond this, with postural assessments and special tests involved to assess more in depth where the body is currently at. These treatments involve a more comprehensive approach, incorporating additional advanced techniques, rehabilitation exercises and possibly kinesiology taping. The goal is not only to relieve pain but also to address underlying causes, promote injury recovery, and create a long-term plan to prevent future issues. The initial treatment is a minimum of 90 minutes with a recommendation of six weekly sessions (60-90 minutes each) afterwards to be able to make a long-term difference. In the past, I have managed to make extraordinary improvements with some clients after one session, however, the majority may take longer and this can be assessed as we work together.
